ROPOTO THE IMMERSED VILLAGE. The Ropoto located on the southwestern edge of the prefecture of Trikala, in central Greece. It all began in 2010 when the ground started to decline in the village while heavy rains from December 2011 until March 2012 gigantic the problem, so there was great distortion and soil displacement and most buildings destroyed. To date, landslides have not stopped and it is estimated that more than 100 houses have been severely damaged. The village now has abandoned and the villagers were forced to flee their homes. Many buildings have collapsed completely, the schools, the hotel, the coffeehouse,2-3 shops and the church.There is no lighting ,and the roads are dangerous due to the rain in the winter. More than 300 families were forced to leave their homes due to the sudden shift of soil, and many have not received any government assistance or compensation. The few elderly residents of Ropoto not want to leave their homes ask from the state to see them as equal citizens of Greece At times, there have been protests against the indifference of the state towards the major problem and also has asked to be exempted from property tax, because their homes no longer exist.
